Entry requirements for international students from Indonesia
We accept a range of secondary school qualifications for direct entry to our undergraduate programs, including:
- Indonesian National Curriculum (Sekolah Menengah Atas / Madrasah Aliyah – SMA/MA)
- International Baccalaureate (IB),
- GCE A Levels
- US High School Diploma
- Australian Year 12 qualifications
For those completing the Indonesian National Curriculum, you must achieve the minimum overall score in Year 12, achieve a required test score, have completed course prerequisite subjects and meet our English language requirements to be considered for direct entry into a bachelor degree.
For students who do not meet our requirements direct entry to an undergraduate degree, Trinity College Foundation Studies (TCFS) offers guaranteed entry into the University's undergraduate degrees.

All students must meet the University’s English language requirements. Accepted tests and required scores — check our English language requirements page for full details. If you don’t yet meet the English language requirements, the University of Melbourne English Language Bridging Program (UMELBP) or other pathway options may be available.
What scholarship options are available to students from Indonesia?
The University of Melbourne offers more than 1,200 scholarships and prizes, including bursaries and grants, for current and commencing students. Many of these are open to international students from Indonesia.
Students from Indonesia may be eligible for a 20% tuition fee remission through the Melbourne International Scholarship. These scholarships are designed to support high-achieving students whose access to international education may be limited by financial circumstances. The Melbourne International Scholarship is available to eligible students applying for undergraduate and graduate coursework programs.

Indonesian students may also be eligible for major government-funded scholarships, including the Garuda Scholarship, Indonesia Endowment Fund for Education (LPDP) scholarship for graduate study, and Australia Awards Scholarships. Applications for these scholarships are made directly to the funding bodies.

Clubs and communities for Indonesian students
With over 200 student clubs and societies, you can connect with peers who share your academic, cultural or professional interests and build connections both locally and globally.
Indonesia Students Association
This student-led organisation brings together a community of Indonesian students to build a strong support network and assist newly arrived students in adapting to the new culture and environment.
LPDP Unimelb Association
This is a fellowship organisation of LPDP (Indonesia Endowment Funds for Education) awardees studying at The University of Melbourne in master's and doctoral program.
Indonesia at Melbourne
The Indonesia at Melbourne blog presents analysis, research and commentary on contemporary Indonesia from academics and postgraduate students. The emphasis is on politics but the blog also covers law, anthropology, culture, history, economics, architecture and public health, reflecting the diversity of expertise on contemporary Indonesia at the university.
