Doctor of Medicine

I love the friends I’ve made and the enriching culture I've experienced. Not only did I get a taste of a different healthcare culture, I also had the opportunity to practice and build on my clinical knowledge and hands-on procedural experiences. I was glad to have gotten out of my comfort zone and travelled to Australia and would dare say that this was one of the best choices I have made in my life.

Juris Doctor

One of my friends that I met while living in Vancouver told me how she dreamed of studying at the University of Melbourne. A few years later the University was at a law school fair and it sort of seemed like fate, especially after I discovered how highly the law school is ranked internationally. As a Canadian international student, Australia is a very viable choice compared to the United States and the UK in terms of affordability and compatibility with the Canadian system. This is easily one of the best decisions I have ever made.

Doctor of Physiotherapy

What drew me to the University of Melbourne was a combination of academic and personal reasons. The university was a great fit for me - a renowned worldwide institution, evidence-based and constantly changing curriculum, and one of the world leaders in physiotherapy research.

Masters of Environment

The diversity in the Masters of Environment course was exactly what I needed to expand my horizons and form a well-rounded knowledge base for my career. I completed a tailored program with subjects from the architecture, science, horticulture and agriculture faculties - all helped me form the right mindset to go into the world and create change in a holistic way.

Master of Education

The most valuable aspect of the Master of Education has been the diversity of students and learning from my peers. My favourite part of studying the program is the new knowledge I have gained from this course, which will propel me into any work I do in the future. The possible next step for me after completing the Master of Education will be to continue my education with a PhD.

During my degree I interned with the UN Environment Programme in the USA for three months through the International Internship subject. This led to a series of internships after graduating; one more with the UN Environment Programme in Thailand and one with Welthungerhilfe in Tajikistan. After the Tajikistan internship I was contracted as a short-term consultant before applying for another role within the organisation, and that is where I am now! Essentially the Office for Environmental Programs and the degree helped me gain relevant work experience which was otherwise lacking as I’d entered the course straight from my undergraduate degree.

The University of Melbourne was particularly appealing because it was the only program offering a three-year post-graduate degree - equivalent to the DPT programs in the United States. The nature of pursuing an extended Master's Degree has introduced me to some incredible people who share the same passion - many of whom I’m still close with.
