About authorised education agents

Search for an education agent

If you are an international student, an authorised education agent can help you to:

  • Find a course that suits your interests and goals
  • Prepare and submit a course application to the University on your behalf
  • Understand and accept your offer
  • Access general information about student visas and living in Australia
  • Assist you in applying for a student visa to study in Australia, if required
  • Receive support in your own language, in your home country or city.

Education agents operate worldwide, but not all agents are authorised to represent applicants to the University of Melbourne. You can only use an authorised education agent listed on the agent search page to apply.

To apply with the support of an agent, you need to submit a nomination form. The form must be completed by you (the applicant), and not by the authorised education agent.

You can only be represented by one authorised education agent at a time.

Notice
Authorised education agents can't provide assistance to domestic students, exchange students, Australia Awards applicants, or current University of Melbourne students. If you're a current or recently graduated University of Melbourne international student, contact Stop 1.

Who must apply through an authorised education agent?

In most cases, international students can apply direct to the University of Melbourne through our online application portal. However, if you most recently studied in one of the following countries, you must apply through an authorised education agent for document verification purposes:

  • Pakistan: All graduate degree applicants
  • India: Any international applicant who completed tertiary studies in India
  • China: All applicants who last studied in China can either apply through an authorised education agent or share their academic transcripts using the Centre for Student Services and Development (CSSD) (formerly known as CHESICC).

If you most recently studied in any other country, you may also choose to use an authorised education agent.

What you need to know

What services do authorised education agents provide?

Authorised education agents can provide a range of services to assist you with your application and enrolment at the University, including (but not limited to):

  • providing information about the University, including course options, fees, facilities, refund policies and entry requirements
  • providing information about living in Australia, the local environment, cost of living and accommodation
  • providing information about student visa requirements
  • assisting you in preparing and submitting your application, including certifying your documents
  • corresponding with the University on your behalf
  • assisting you in accepting an offer of study, including through the provision of the conditional CoE process, and enrolling at the University.

Authorised education agents cannot influence selection decisions, guarantee admission, or waive entry requirements.

Who can provide assistance?

All services you receive from an authorised education agent must be delivered by staff employed by the authorised education agencies. The University will not liaise with any other person on your behalf (including non-authorised education agents or migration agents).

If you reside in a country where there are no authorised education agents, you may use an authorised education agent listed below in a neighbouring country/region (a country that shares a border with yours) to assist you with your application.

Are there fees and charges for using an authorised education agent?

Some authorised education agents may charge additional fees for their services on top of the University’s application fee. These fees are set by the education agent, not by the University of Melbourne.

Make sure you ask the authorised education agent about all fees and charges before agreeing to use their services.

What to do if you have issues with an authorised education agent

If you're having problems or issues with your authorised education agent, you can make a complaint or lodge a grievance under the University Student Complaints Policy.
