How to apply
All graduate coursework applications are submitted directly to the University through our online application portal. Review this page for specific information about applying for graduate coursework as a domestic student, then follow the step-by-step process for preparing and submitting your application via the portal.
Key application dates
Application closing dates and intakes are published on the How to apply tab of each course page. Dates vary by course and faculty, so it’s important to check your preferred course and apply before the listed deadline.
What to check before applying
Entry requirements
You need to ensure you meet the minimum entry requirements for your chosen course. Requirements vary and may include prior study, subject prerequisites, professional experience, selection tasks and English language requirements.
You'll need to supply supporting documentation about your previous study and any other requirements outlined on the Entry requirements tab of your course page. See also Entry requirements.
Understand your fees
Your fees depend on your course and subject load. To understand how fees are calculated, and explore payment options and support, see Fees and payments.
Application timing and late applications
Some courses may accept late applications, depending on availability. However, applying after the closing date may limit your chances of receiving an offer or a Commonwealth Supported Place (CSP), where available. Always confirm key dates on the course page.
Admissions information for different circumstances
Find information tailored to your situation, including special application considerations that may affect how you apply.
You can still apply if you’re in your final year of study by submitting your most recent academic results.
If you meet all other requirements, you may receive a conditional offer, which secures your place while you complete your studies. Once your final results are available, you’ll need to provide them before receiving an unconditional offer.
Advanced standing (also known as credit or recognition of prior learning) is assessed as part of your course application. For some courses, you may need to submit a separate application. Check the Entry requirements tab on the course page for details.
Your offer will include information about any advanced standing you’re eligible for.
Some courses have limited places and are highly competitive. If this applies to your course, your application may be held and assessed in a later selection round. This is known as being waitlisted, and there is no guarantee of an offer.
You’ll be notified if your application is placed on a waitlist, along with expected timeframes for a decision.
You can apply for up to three courses as part of a single application. It's important to submit only one application at a time, with courses listed in order of preference from 1 to 3. If you submit multiple course applications without using the preference system, your assessment will be put on hold.
Your application will be assessed in order of course preference. If your first preference is successful, you will not be assessed for another preference.
If a course has both Commonwealth Supported Places (CSPs) and full fee places available, you only need to select one option per course. You'll always be considered for a CSP if available.
If a course offers both full-time and part-time study modes, you only need to select one option when you apply. You'll be able to choose another study mode (if offered) when you enrol.

Application outcome
You'll receive an application outcome by email. If your application is successful, you’ll receive an offer with information on how to accept. If you’re still completing your studies or have outstanding documents, you may receive a conditional offer. You’ll need to meet the conditions before accepting your offer and enrolling.

Scholarships
A scholarship is a form of financial support that can help with tuition fees and living costs. You’ll be automatically considered for some scholarships, while others require a separate application.
