Be matched with a later-year student from your faculty, as well as a group of your first-year peers, in an instant network of friendly faces to touch base with. Benefit from an insider’s experience, ask for advice and guidance in navigating uni life and make friends with other students in your degree. Then, develop your leadership and interpersonal skills becoming a peer mentor yourself.

Academic Mentoring at Melbourne

Gain connections, insights and support by meeting up with your academic mentor each semester. Your mentor can provide you with the guidance, motivation, perspectives and knowledge to help you think through your experience at uni, what you want to achieve, what’s challenging you and how to make the most of what’s on offer. It’s a conversation you want to have!

Melbourne Plus

Build your capabilities in people leadership, community engagement, sustainability advocacy or innovation through Melbourne Plus. By choosing an activity from the catalogue, not only can you engage in co-curricular opportunities that develop your skills, networks and interests, but you can get officially recognised with a digital credential that you can share on your social networks.

Discovery Experiences

Your first year Discovery subjects and modules will help you build a strong sense of connection with your cohort; understand more about the current ‘big ideas’ and real-world problems within your discipline; and provide you with the skills and knowledge you’ll need to make the most of your studies at Melbourne.

The community atmosphere of clubs at the University of Melbourne is unmatched and underpins all aspects of university life. Finding an anchor in a key group of like-minded friends is the ultimate way to enhance your overall university experience – and getting involved with different clubs is the best way to do so!
