Wherever you've come from and whatever your ambitions are, our scholarship programs are designed to provide you with the opportunities and support you need to thrive at university.
More than 1,200 scholarships and prizes are on offer for new and current students. There are scholarships, prizes and awards for academic achievements, overseas studies and leadership opportunities, as well as bursaries to ease financial pressures so you can focus on your studies and get the most out of your time at Melbourne.

Flagship University scholarships
Recognising academic excellence, resilience, and diverse circumstances, these three programs offer some of our most comprehensive support for undergraduate students.
Melbourne Chancellor's Scholarship
The Melbourne Chancellor’s Scholarship is one of the University’s most prestigious scholarships and is offered to recent school leavers in recognition of their outstanding academic achievement during their Australian Year 12 or International Baccalaureate (IB).
Narrm Scholarship Program
This scholarship provides financial, wellbeing, academic and career support to eligible Access Melbourne students. As a Narrm Scholar, you’ll join a diverse community of students from across Australia, each with unique stories to tell.
Hansen Scholarship Program
Valued at over $100,000, this scholarship goes beyond generous financial support, offering on campus accommodation and access, to a bespoke mentoring program designed to support you to truly succeed at university.
Equity based scholarships
When you submit an equity scheme and scholarship application in VTAC alongside your course preferences, you’ll automatically be considered for a range of equity based scholarships that provide financial support while you study.
Scholarships for Indigenous students
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students have access to a range of programs designed to help you achieve your best at Melbourne.
You'll also have access to bursaries and grants for study and living costs, plus mentoring, cultural and academic support, through Murrup Barak, Melbourne Institute for Indigenous Development.
Melbourne Chancellor's Scholarship
In recognition of academic achievement, Indigenous applicants are eligible for this prestigious award if they achieve an ATAR or notional ATAR of 90.00 or above.
Narrm Scholarship Program
Providing financial, wellbeing, academic and career support, Indigenous applicants may be guaranteed a Narrm Scholarship if you meet eligibility criteria.
Indigenous Commonwealth Scholarships
This program assists students with education, teaching and training costs, as well as relocation and accommodations costs for eligible students.
Wilin Scholarship
Provides support to Indigenous students enrolled in a course in the Faculty of Fine Arts and Music through a one-off allowance of $8000.
Accommodation scholarships
Within walking distance of our Parkville campus, University Accommodation provides year-round social, academic, wellbeing and sporting activities and a team of professional staff at each site to ease your transition into university life.
There are a wide range of scholarship options available to students to support their stay in University Accommodation.
Narrm Scholarship accommodation allowance
Narrm Scholars may be eligible for an accommodation fee reduction of $20,000 per year if your home address is in an outer Melbourne local government area, or in a regional or remote area of Australia.
Sisson Family Scholarship
Providing accommodation and living allowances, this scholarship is awarded to eligible students from the Mildura or Murray Plains Districts, enrolling in the Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Biomedicine, and are experiencing disadvantaged circumstances.
Paul and Angela Wheelton Scholarship
Awarded to eligible students enrolling in a bachelors degree who are experiencing disadvantaged circumstances, and residing at University residential college, International House.
Hansen Scholarship
Recognises students who have demonstrated resilience to adversity and a committment to supporting others. Successful Hansen Scholarship recipients will benefit from the guarantee of fully funded accommodation at Little Hall for the duration of their undergraduate degree.
Sport scholarships
As an elite student athlete, you can pursue your sport and your studies side by side, with sport scholarships offered through our Elite Athlete Program.
The program also offers an elite athlete entry scheme and flexible assistance for recognised elite athletes whose sporting activities may clash with their studies.
Jopling Family Rowing Scholarship
Created to support Australia's best and brightest rowers to study and row at the University of Melbourne, benefits include an annual payment of up to $25,000 for up to three years.
Andrew and Geraldine Buxton Athletics Scholarship
Offered to an an aspiring student-athlete in the sport of athletics to support both their academic and sporting dreams, benefits include an annual payment of up to $10,000 for up to three years.
Rugby Young Achiever Award
Awarded to a Year 12 rugby player who demonstrates leadership, academic endeavour and sporting excellence. Benefits include an annual payment of $5000.
