Where degree levels are referenced, levels align with the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF). Applications are assessed against these standards.

About selection
When assessing (and where relevant, ranking) applications, the Selection Committee will consider:
- Prior academic performance
The Selection Committee may seek further information to clarify any aspect of an application in accordance with the Selection and Admission Policy.
Meeting the minimum entry requirements for this course does not guarantee selection.
Additional information
- Students are permitted to enter the diploma at the start of any semester before the completion of the companion bachelor program.
- Students cannot defer a Diploma in Music offer or take a Leave of Absence in their first semester of the diploma.
- The Diploma in Music cannot be awarded until all requirements of both the diploma and the bachelor degree have been met.
- Students must apply and pass an audition if intending to enter the Practical Music stream. Entry into the subject MUSI10220 Practical Music 1 is by audition only for Diploma in Music students. Note the close date for Practical Music 1 is earlier than for the diploma. If you are interested in enrolling in Practical Music 1, you are required to prepare and submit a recorded audition via SlideRoom, in addition to your application. Please see Diploma in Music How to Apply for further details.
- A concurrent diploma must be undertaken at the same time as your substantive degree (e.g. Bachelor of Arts) and is considered to be a combined course for the purposes of the Student Assistance (Education Institutions and Courses) Determination 2019. See more information on concurrent diplomas.
Advanced standing
Prior studies may be credited towards your degree and potentially reduce the duration of your course. This is known as Advanced standing (also known as credit or recognition of prior learning).
Students can cross-credit a maximum of 50 credit points between the bachelor's degree and the diploma. Cross-crediting allows a subject to count toward both the bachelor and the diploma.
Note: Once a subject is passed, the subject will stay recorded under the course in which it was enrolled.
For additional, in-depth details on entry requirements and admissions for this course, refer to the University Handbook.
