Overview

Your pathway to university and beyond

The Uni Ready Enabling Program is more than just a pathway into university. It’s a launchpad for your future.

If you’re aiming to meet the Mathematical Methods prerequisite for the Bachelor of Science or the Bachelor of Commerce, or other degrees that require it, this program delivers a tailored curriculum designed to help you build university-ready mathematical knowledge, skills and confidence.

Successfully complete all four subjects with a Weighted Average Mark (WAM) of at least 65, and you’ll secure a guaranteed place in the next available intake of either the Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Commerce at the University of Melbourne. You’ll also start your degree with 25 credit points already under your belt — giving you a valuable head start.

Develop real-world, transferable skills

When you complete the course, you’ll be able to:

• Demonstrate knowledge and skills in mathematics equivalent to VCE Mathematical Methods Units 3 and 4
• Describe and apply key mathematical concepts in probability, trigonometry and calculus
• Solve problems using mathematical methods in contexts relevant to your chosen undergraduate degree
• Demonstrate written and oral communication skills needed for Bachelor-level study.

You’ll also gain a broad, practical skillset that prepares you for success at university and in the workplace.

A foundation for future success

By the end of the program, graduates will have built capabilities across a wide range of areas:

• Problem-solving skills to engage with unfamiliar problems in a variety of contexts and identify relevant solution strategies
• Numeracy skills to understand and work with numerical and symbolic representation of ideas
• Analytical skills to construct clear and logical arguments, effectively justify reasoning, and design and test hypotheses
• Conceptual skills to see connections across topics, to help organise thinking and frame big picture views
• Collaborative skills to work effectively in a team, and actively participate and engage collaboratively in a task
• Time-management and organisational skills to meet regular deadlines while balancing competing commitments
• Critical thinking to organise observations of complex systems occurring in biology and the Earth and analyse these within different frameworks
• Capacity for learning in a higher education environment and to engage productively in active learning.

These are skills that set you up, not just for uni, but for life.
