Evaluate your own self-management and leadership practices, beliefs and behaviours, and explore what you could improve. Examine the positive and adverse impacts of personal leadership on overall organisational performance.
Improve your capacity to manage time and resources
Gain a strong evidence base to help you manage time and stress, delegate to and coach others, build adaptability and resilience, and achieve greater alignment between your behaviour, goals and values. Explore strategies to better use your own resources (including personal resources such as psychological wellbeing, resilience and cognitive load) rather than reacting to others.
Develop your resilience in challenging scenarios

This micro-credential is designed for a diverse range of professionals seeking to develop their leadership ability and knowledge.
You might be an emerging leader, seeking to enhance your leadership capabilities to complement technical knowledge and expertise, or someone wanting to advance into more senior leadership positions across any sector or organisation.
The course is also suited more broadly to anyone wanting to build their competence, capability and confidence as they progress through various career stages and job changes.
There are no eligibility requirements.
This course will equip you with the leadership skills needed to navigate the unique contemporary challenges and opportunities in Australia and globally.
It's been developed in consultation with leading professional services organisations, major business stakeholder organisations, and human resource management and organisational development practitioners.
It's aligned with the criteria for Australian Human Resource Institute accreditation and the Society for Human Resource Management certification.
By the end of this course, you'll have enhanced your leadership capabilities. You'll be able to:
- Explain how personal leadership impacts organisational performance, both positively and adversely
- Identify leadership challenges and evaluate personal response strategies to overcome these challenges within their teams and organisations
- Appraise opportunities to effectively manage limited time and resources, including personal resources (psychological wellbeing, resilience, cognitive load) to enable them to engage in sustainable and effective leadership.
This course runs over four weeks,
Your total time commitment is approximately 42 hours, which includes:
- 9 hours guided learning
- 13 hours private study, including discussion forums and readings
- 20 hours assessment tasks.
Assessment:
- A leadership development activity (60%)
- A short-answer and multiple-choice questions (30%)
- Discussion forum and webinar participation (10%)
Personal Effectiveness is part of the Adaptive Leadership series, which provides a pathway towards the subject MGMT90264 Adaptive Leadership.
To use Personal Effectiveness this way, you need to complete the four micro-credentials from the Adaptive Leadership series, in any order you choose, and then apply for credit towards MGMT90264 Adaptive Leadership.
You can use the Managing Teams series in a similar way by completing all four micro-credentials in that series, in any order you choose, and then apply for credit towards the subject MGMT90265 Managing Teams.
